A little routine care keeps fine jewellery looking its best for a lifetime.
Everyday wear
Put jewellery on last, after perfume, hairspray and lotion — these can dull metal and gemstones over time. Take rings off before swimming, cleaning, or heavy manual work.
Cleaning at home
Soak in warm water with a few drops of mild washing-up liquid for 10–15 minutes, then gently brush with a soft, clean toothbrush and dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid this for very soft gemstones like pearls or opals — wipe those with a damp cloth only.
Storage
Store pieces separately, in a soft pouch or lined box, so they don't scratch each other. Diamonds are hard enough to scratch other jewellery, including other diamonds.
When to bring it in
Have prong settings checked once a year — loose prongs are the most common cause of a lost stone, and it's a quick, inexpensive fix if caught early.
